About BCE
About BCE
BCE was founded in 1976 as a distributor of cues, balls and table spares to the coin-operated games trade, and was first registered as Bristol Coin Equipment. It went on to make its own snooker tables and cues. In 2002 BCE bought the Riley brand, and the two are now run from the same base in Caldicot, Monmouthshire.
What is BCE known for?
BCE made the Westbury snooker table, which was used at the World professional snooker tournaments from 1982 to 1992. Today it is known for snooker and pool cues and for its WAC (weight-adjustable cue) system, which lets a player set a cue lighter or heavier with weight added to or taken out of the butt. Its current cues include models carrying the names of Mark Selby and Christophe Lambert.
Which BCE range suits you?
X Series and Accura. The X Series comes with an ash shaft (Carbon Grey or Scarlet Red), a maple shaft (Cobalt Blue) or a graphite shaft (Aqua Green). The Accura has a carbon shaft and comes in Burnt Orange, Blue or Grey. All are 57in 2-piece cues with a 9.5mm tip. Graphite and carbon shafts resist the bowing a timber shaft can develop in heat and humidity, which suits a cue kept in a car or garage.
Ash cues. The FF Series, Extreme, Sports, Shockwave, Keyline Ebony, Keyline Series Red and JWS Series are 57in 2-piece cues with ash shafts and a 9.5mm tip. The FF Series, Keyline Ebony, Keyline Series Red and Extreme in Ebonised Black have a rapid-release joint, which comes apart in a fraction of a turn; the others use a spiral brass joint. The Supagrip Black is the graphite alternative, with a rubberised grip that holds the hand steady when it gets warm.
Protégé and Heritage. The Protégé has a North American ash shaft on a custom taper, an ebonised four-point butt and an Elk Master tip, in five designs. The Protégé Christophe Lambert carries the decals of the French eight-ball world champion. The Heritage pairs a grain-matched ash shaft with a gloss black butt and comes in two splice designs.
WAC weight-adjustable cues. The Sports WAC and Heritage WAC have BCE's weight-adjustable butt, so one cue can be set heavier or lighter as your game changes. The Sports WAC carries Mark Selby's signature.
Cue cases. The Attaché is a hard leatherette case that carries like a briefcase and protects the cue from knocks and bending. The 2-Piece Soft Cue Case is a lighter cover against scratches and tip knocks. Both fit a 2-piece cue that splits at the centre.

Frequently asked questions
Is BCE the same company as Riley?
They are separate brands in the same group. BCE bought the Riley brand in 2002, and both are run from Caldicot, Wales.
What does WAC mean on a BCE cue?
Weight-adjustable cue. Weight can be added to or taken out of the butt, so the cue can be set heavier or lighter. We stock it in the BCE Sports WAC and Heritage WAC.
Are BCE cues for snooker or pool?
Both. The BCE cues we stock are 57in with a 9.5mm tip, a common size for snooker and English eight-ball.
What is a rapid-release joint?
A joint that comes apart in a fraction of a turn instead of several turns of a thread, so the cue goes together and comes apart quickly. The BCE FF Series, Keyline and Extreme Ebonised Black have one.
Should I choose ash, graphite or carbon?
Ash gives the traditional timber feel. Graphite and carbon shafts resist bowing in heat and humidity. The BCE X Series comes in ash, maple and graphite at the same price, so you can choose on feel alone.
