Extensions
An extension adds length to the butt of the cue, giving you reach on shots that would otherwise mean switching to a rest — and playing with your own cue is always better than playing with a rest.
Telescopic designs are the most versatile: they adjust across a range rather than adding one fixed length, so you can set the reach to the shot instead of the other way around. The 12-18 inch models handle most awkward positions, and the 26-38 inch versions reach right down the table. There are two fittings. Screw-on extensions thread into the butt cap of a cue built for one, which holds rock solid and feels like part of the cue. Push-on extensions fit over the butt of any cue, which makes them the universal option.
Most three-quarter split cues are designed with an extension in mind, and adding one is the natural upgrade.
